Coffee Talk is a group of women who write books and love coffee (and wine!) that I am proudly a member of. So why does it deserve its own page on my website? Because it, and the women involved, are awesome.
Not the kind of awesome when you discover your flatmate didn’t eat your last chocolate biscuit, or the kind of awesome you feel when you get let off work early on a Friday afternoon.
But the real, Oxford Dictionary kind.
I write under a pen name because I am scared. Scared of failure. Scared of success. Scared of having topless photos of my famous self spread over the tabloids. (Everyone should be scared of that ever happening.) These women, a mixture of multi-published, single-published, self-published, and unpublished, helped me to see that my voice, and what I have to say, is important and is worth sharing with the world.
More than that, they have helped me connect with who I’ve always been – an author – and for that alone I am exceedingly grateful. They also share their knowledge and experience, and their hardship and personal situations, give and receive virtual, but very real, support, indulge in a bit of eye candy, and definitely share a lot of laughs.
They are just a few of the reasons why Coffee Talk and the wonderful women behind it, deserve this page on my website.
And why should that matter to anyone but me? Because everyone needs support from a variety of people, no matter what stage of life they are at, or what goal they are trying to achieve. We need to share, listen, give, take, complain, celebrate, and laugh. So if you can count on one hand the people you would call on in a time of personal need, then I couldn’t recommend more to start seeking out other people to add to that list.
The world isn’t that big and life isn’t that long. Reach out, and you might just find some of my kind of awesome.
