Today is World Cancer Day and, as with every year for a growing number of families, this year it holds personal significance for my family. In August last year I was diagnosed with bowel cancer after some routine testing for the cause of an iron deficiency. Today is #RUOKDay and Saturday is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay. Everyone experiences things differently and to need help processing and dealing with those experiences is much more common than you might think. To ask for that help is one of the strongest moves you can make. In our world of constant turmoil and stress, support and understanding from the people close to you is more important than ever. One Year On

One Year On

This blog post contains trigger warnings so please consider this before reading on. It's been one year since a suicide attempt found my eldest spawn admitted to hospital. I can't say things are better - just different. There haven't been any further attempts which is progress, but the constant monitoring, worrying about mood and diet changes, and the recent introduction of medication has made this a very long and exhausting year.
