The Silver Chain
by Primula Bond
I’m reviewing the short 6-chapter introduction to Primula Bond’s The Silver Chain, and I have to admit, as soon as I finished it, I went out and bought the full book.
A new start in London, a meeting with a strangely enticing man inside the gates of a grand old house, on Halloween no less, turns into a drink with the strangely enticing man and something much more.
Primula’s easy, comfortable writing style makes her work equally easy to read, and had me turning pages and leaving my tea go cold until the end came up too quickly.
The strong connection between the main characters lacked the usual insta-love characteristics, and that’s something I liked – a realistic connection. Being so closely inside Serena’s thoughts made it easy to identify with her and feel her struggles and choices as she made her way on a journey of (very steamy) self-discovery.
On a personal note, I also loved the Rebecca reference – it’s one of my favourite movies 🙂
I can give the first 6 chapters of The Silver Chain a lusty 4 stars!
